w0rms
by Strano
There are 1024 w0rms, and every one was made by hand.
Scanning
Process
Strano created every piece manually during a year when AI disruption was felt everywhere.
The scanning states are built from broken pixels: shapes are thrown onto a canvas, smashed, glitched, rebuilt and repeated until they loop seamlessly.
Each piece is the result of a series of deliberate choices, refined until the system feels right.
The w0rms themselves are drawn by hand using a drawing tablet; this gesture is essential to the work. There is something deeply personal in a hand-drawn stroke.
Strano drew inspiration from the work of 0x3y3, Advan Shumiski, Chepertom, Haydiroket, Kerim Safa, Kim Asendorf, Kristen Roos, Nicolas Sassoon, perfectloop, Sabato, Santiago, Waffles, XCOPY, and Xer0x.

Two states
Every w0rm lives in two states. While scanning, the system feels like it’s analyzing, searching for a connection. When an agent finds something it wants, the w0rm comes to the surface.
